Energy chains in nature, technology and everyday life
Energy chains are ways of how energy transfers from one form to another.
Energy chains in nature:
-
A fruit falling from a tree: Potential energy → kinetic energy + heat and sound energy.
-
When a mass is dropped from a height gravitational potential energy is converted to kinetic energy as the mass falls and then to sound and heat as it hits the ground.
Energy chains in technology:
-
A light bulb: Electrical energy → Heat and light energy
-
When a light bulb is on, electrical energy is converted to heat and light energy.
Energy chains in everyday life:
-
Burning coal: Chemical energy → Heat and light energy
-
Burning coal releases Heat and light energy.
